Job Description:
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position in Dr. Anumantha G Kanthasamy’s laboratory within the Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS).
The major goal of his research program is to elucidate cellular-molecular and epigenetic contributions to neuroinflammation, cell death, and survival signaling associated with Parkinson’s disease and other neurodegenerative disease. The lab accomplishes this goal using cell culture and animal models of neurotoxicity and neurodegenerative disease and establishes translational relevance by extending our findings to available human samples.
The successful candidate will be conducting research involving cell culture and animal models of neurological diseases as well as human clinical sample analysis. This will largely consist of high-throughput assays, animal handling, drug administration, animal surgery, human biospecimen processing, and behavioral, neurochemical, biochemical, and histological assessments. Experience with molecular biology, protein isolation and purification, BSL2-level cell culturing, immunofluorescence assays, genotyping, HPLC, FPLC, qRT-PCR, RT-QuIC, microscopy, and rodent models are highly desirable.
