Position Summary
Researchers in the Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease and the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center seek a Postdoctoral Researcher to unravel connections between the gut microbiome and cancer immunotherapies. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team consisting of microbiologists, cell and molecular biologists, and a physician-scientist.

Experiments will involve culture and propagation of anaerobic gut bacteria. Both standard and germ-free mouse models of human cancers will be employed. Standard molecular and cell biology and biochemistry techniques will be routinely employed, along with flow cytometry.

The candidate will investigate mechanisms through which gut bacteria augment immunotherapies in mouse models of human cancer. Thus, a strong foundation in microbiology and immunology, with demonstrable expertise in associated techniques is strongly recommended.
Educational Requirements
Ph.D or M.D. or D.V.M
Qualifications and Experience
1. Able to successfully develop and execute experiments using a variety of techniques used in immunology: flow cytometry, nucleic acid isolation, qPCR.
2. Have experience culturing and propagating bacteria.
