Position Overview

The Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering at the University of Kansas invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate in transportation engineering, under the supervision of Dr. Alexandra Kondyli. The preferred start date is February 1, 2022. This is a 1-year appointment with possibility of reappointment based on performance and funding availability.

Highly qualified candidates with backgrounds on driver behavior modeling, driving simulation, connected and automated vehicles, or travel demand modeling are particularly encouraged to apply.

Job Description

80% Research

• Conduct and oversee laboratory and/or computational research.
• Assist in mentoring and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students with their research.
• Analyze data associated with conducted research.
• Prepare research papers.
• Assist in preparation of research proposals.

20% - Reporting and Dissemination of Research

• Prepare and present updates on research project.
• Assist in preparation of research reports.
• Participate in group meetings and present findings in seminars and conferences.

Position Requirements

On-site work required at University of Kansas Lawrence Campus; remote work may be possible as conditions require and will be decided between supervisor and hired candidate.

Required Qualifications

Candidates will be evaluated on their research experience and communication skills, as evidenced by (i) CV and cover letter, (ii) prior research publications and/or patent applications, (iii) references, and (iv) interview by video conference.

NOTE: To be appointed at the Postdoctoral Researcher title, it is necessary to have the PhD in hand. Appointments made without a diploma or certified transcript indicating an earned doctorate are conditional hires and are appointed on an acting basis not to exceed 6 months.
