Position Overview

This is a skilled position requiring knowledge and training in a genomics-relate field.  This position is limited term with an initial appointment of 2 years. The postdoctoral researcher will propose their own project that fits with the research program of Center affiliated faculty. Thus applicants should review the research that is being performed by KU Center for Genomics faculty. Primary responsibilities will be designing and performing experiments, analyzing data, and disseminating results based on an original research proposal. There will be considerable latitude in designing the original research proposal, but proposals should be related to center-affiliated research mentors. Other responsibilities include helping to organize an annual symposium and being an ambassador for the KU Center for Genomics.

The Center for Genomics (https://genomics.ku.edu ) has many faculty members performing research in a wide range of disciplines.

Candidates must research and specifically identify within their application materials the faculty members/mentors they are the most interested in working with and feel their proposed research aligns with.


Job Description

60% - Conduct primary research on a genomics-related research project
30% - Collaborate with, and assist, other KU faculty, postdocs and graduate students to facilitate and support the genomic research
10% - Publish and present research results in venues appropriate to the discipline


Position Requirements

To be appointed at the Postdoctoral Researcher title, it is necessary to have the PhD conferred at the time of hire. Appointments made without a diploma or certified transcript indicating an earned doctorate are conditional hires and are appointed on an interim basis not to exceed 6 months. Upon verification of degree the appointment will be extended to its full duration.


Required Qualifications

  • PhD in the life sciences or related fields
  • Demonstrated excellence with oral and written scientific communication as evidenced by application materials.

  • Demonstrated excellence in scientific research as evidenced by publications and preprints, fellowships, etc.
