Job Description

Perform research in microfluidics, lab-on-a-chip, and organ-on-a-chip systems in the NanoBio Systems Laboratory. The project will be highly interdisciplinary and fast-paced, having multiple collaborating labs in microbial pathogenesis, environmental microbiology, and bioinformatics. The candidate is expected to work together with other graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in the laboratory, publish results in journals, write project reports, and assist with proposal preparation. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and development work in the assigned project.

  • Manage the assigned projects independently and help other lab personnel.

  • Conduct proof of concept studies on ideas that can form the basis of new proposals.

  • Assist in preparation of research proposal and present reports to funding sponsors.

  • Prepare scientific manuscripts for journal publications and present research results in scientific conferences and seminars.

  • Develop new projects for current and new sponsors.

Required Education:

  • Doctoral Degree.

Preferred Education:

  • Doctoral degree in science and/or engineering.

Required Experience:

  • No required experience.

Preferred Experience: 

  • Extensive experience in microfluidic, lab-on-a-chip, organ-on-a-chip system development, and their applications

  • Experience in handling cells (mammalian cells, microorganisms) in microsystems

  • Experience in performing original research and publishing high-quality research papers

  • Experience in assisting proposal writing to funding agencies

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of current research, issue, and innovations in microsystems

  • Extensive experiences in micro/nano fabrication in cleanroom environment

  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage complex projects
