Supported by the US Department of Energy, the postdoctoral researcher will independently perform and optimize carbon-based nanomaterial synthesis, functionalization, electrochemical characterization under general supervision. Collaborating with the Argonne National Lab, the postdoc will also conduct energy application tests for the new carbon materials.

Responsibilities:

• Independently performs and optimizes carbon-based nanomaterial synthesis and functionalization. 

• Writes reports and prepares research publications for peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences. 

• Travel to Argonne National Lab and conduct collaborative research.

• Other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

• Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or Materials Science 

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in carbon nanomaterial preparation and functionalization.

• Experience in electrochemistry.

• Experience in CO2 capture and reduction.

• Experience in data analysis and paper writing.

• 3 years of related research experience in materials science or chemistry.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment.

• Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks.

• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Computational chemistry. 

• Multitasking ability

• Supervising graduate and undergraduate students.
