The USD Department of Physics is looking for a postdoc working on COHERENT, LEGEND, and/or DUNE. Preference will be given to candidates who have rich experience in one or more of the following areas: semiconductor detectors (SiPM, Ge, etc.), PMT, front-end electronics, cryogenic operation, Monte Carlo simulation, statistical analysis, and machine learning. The postdoc is expected to travel in summer to Durham and Oak Ridge for collaborative work, to disseminate R&D results in relevant workshops and conferences, and to participate in various outreach and teaching activities that the department is doing regularly.
The main research focus will be on the R&D of cryogenic inorganic scintillators for the detection of CEvNS and low-mass dark matter at the SNS, ORNL. The group will also be responsible for the characterization of HPGe detectors for the LEGEND 1ton experiment. Commitment to DUNE low energy physics is another possibility if the candidate is experienced in DUNE optical simulation.
Applicants should submit a CV (including publication list), a research statement (including highlights of previous research that are tightly related to the research focus mentioned above), and arrange at least 3 reference letters. Submit all materials online.
