Job Description:

The successful candidate will work with Dr. Ditre in leading ongoing projects and developing new initiatives within the Pain and Addiction Research Program at Syracuse University. This program of clinical translational research applies a multi-method approach to investigate and address complex interplay between the experience of acute and chronic pain, substances use and addiction (e.g., opioid medications, nicotine/tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, benzodiazepines), comorbid psychopathology and cognitive-affective vulnerability factors, and social determinants of health.
The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to make valuable contributions to ongoing funded research projects (including an NIAAA-funded randomized controlled trial of a newly developed mHealth personalized feedback intervention to address hazardous drinking and dangerous co-use of alcohol and opioid medications among adults with chronic pain; R01AA028639), while also developing their own research agenda and proposals for funding. Independent thinking is highly encouraged, and resources will be provided to support new ideas and initiatives. The fellow will have the opportunity to work with CSBHS-affiliated faculty and external collaborators, present at community engagement meetings and scientific conferences, and participate in career development opportunities, including grant writing, grant reviewing, and statistics workshops.
