Job Description

The University of Missouri and the Sumner Metabolomics Research Lab are currently seeking a highly qualified and motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow specializing in metabolomics analyses of plants and natural products. The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience and operational knowledge in both GC-MS and UHPLC-MS/MS instrumental analyses, coupled with proficient data processing skills.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for conducting data generation and metabolomics analyses on various American Elderberry cultivars, focusing on assessing the metabolic diversity within them.

Additionally, the candidate will play a crucial role in evaluating metabolic and natural product diversity in a large Genotype by Environment (G x E) study of American Elderberry. In addition to the responsibilities above, the candidate will also analyze metabolites from mammalian fluids and tissues obtained in association with a study examining the influence of Elderberry extracts on brain function.

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of metabolomics, with a specific focus on plant natural products and their impact on both plants and mammals. If you are a dedicated and skilled researcher with the requisite qualifications, we invite you to apply and be part of our dynamic research team.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a related science (Chemistry, biochemistry, plant science) and 3 years of post baccalaureate hands-on experience with mass spectrometry based plant metabolomics and natural product analyses by start of appointment.

Candidates will be evaluated on their strong publication record in the areas of plant natural products and metabolomics analyses.
