Job Summary 

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology is hiring a Postdoctoral Researcher to focus on the investigation into the immunological response to Lyme disease.

Essential Functions 

  • Investigation into the immunological response to Lyme disease.
  • As a Postdoctoral Researcher in our Glycomics and Proteomic Laboratory, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Sample Preparation flow cytometry, glycan analysis.
  • Instrument Operation: Operate and maintain advanced laboratory equipment, such as mass spectrometers, liquid chromatography systems, and electrophoresis platforms.
  • Data Analysis: Perform data analysis and interpretation, including peak identification, spectral analysis, and quality control checks. Ensuring high-quality and reproducible results.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, including experimental protocols, sample tracking, and results documentation.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to laboratory safety procedures, quality assurance standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Inventory Management: Manage laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment, ensuring stock levels are maintained for uninterrupted workflow.

Required Qualifications 

  • Minimum of a Masters Degree in relevant scientific field, such as biochemistry, chemistry, or biology
  • Minimum of a year of experience.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting is preferred.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques, including sample preparation, data analysis, and instrument operation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with flow cytometry, mass spectrometry, and liquid chromatography techniques.
  • PhD or Doctorate is preferred. 
  • Experience with data analysis software and programming languages.
  • Knowledge of glycan and protein databases.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to research.

Physical Demands 

  • Typically sitting at a desk/table.
  • Typically standing, walking.

Location 

  • Center City – Philadelphia, PA  

Additional Information 

This position is classified as Exempt, grade I. Compensation for this grade ranges from [$41,120.00 to $ 61,680.00 per year]. Please note that the offered salary for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
