Job Description

Position Summary

We are searching to hire a post-doctoral researcher to join the Cognitive Biomarkers in Pediatric Brain Tumor Patients project. This study is evaluating resting state functional MRI in both survivors of pediatric brain tumors and in newly diagnosed patients receiving radiation therapy. Research responsibilities will include brain autosegementation, resting state MRI pre-processing and QA, as well as resting state MRI analysis and statistical evaluation. Patients enrolled on study also under cognitive testing so planned analysis of resting state MRI and cognitive performance will be performed. For patients receiving radiation therapy, we will assess radiation dose to resting state networks and evaluate radiation induced alterations in functional connectivity and brain network architecture. This study has been open since 2016 and has accrued over 100 patients to date.

 

Throughout the course of the project there will be lab meetings with Drs. Perkins and Marek, along with others on both the medical school and Danforth campus. Plans including analyzing correlations with cognitive performance, rsfMRI data, radiation dosimetry, brain volumetrics, and other patient variables such as sex, age, and poverty. Duties will also include preparing preliminary data for lab meetings, preparation of abstracts to present at national meeting and international meetings, followed by manuscript publication. This multi-disciplinary project brings together the neuro-imaging sciences with the pediatric brain tumor team in order to impact the outcomes for pediatric brain tumor survivors.

Required Qualifications

PhD in neuroscience, psychology, biology, computer science, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications
 

Experience with coding (e.g., Matlab, Python, R), processing and analysis of neuroimaging data, and publishing neuroimaging results is desirable.

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
