Position Summary

A postdoctoral research position is available at the UNC Nutrition Research Institute. The candidate will be responsible for execution of a project that evaluates the interactions between genotype and dietary choline intake, and the effects of these interactions on a set of biomarkers that reflect this choline status. Primary duties include analysis and interpretation of genotype and phenotype data (e.g., identifying associations between single nucleotide polymorphisms and choline biomarkers). Additional duties include assisting with patient recruiting.

The position requires occasional early morning hours (some possibly as early as 6:00 AM), demands excellent communication skills in working with human study subjects, and attention to detailed data collection processes. The position requires extensive online training prior to work with human subjects.

Educational Requirements

PhD in a life sciences field.

Qualifications and Experience

- Skill in standard molecular biology techniques.
- Previous experience in human cell and tissue culture research.
- Working knowledge of endocrinology.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to recruit subjects for clinical studies.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including early morning hours and weekends.
- Must be able to complete appropriate training for working with human study subjects and lab samples, which will be provided by employer at time of hire.
