Position Details:


Summary of Duties:

WSU seeks postdoctoral researchers with knowledge and skills related to synthesis and regulation of grass cell walls and metabolites, including understanding the molecular structure and architecture of plant cell walls, nutritional benefits of dietary polysaccharides, and use of molecular genetics and systems biology to examine bioenergy crop and model grass stem and root development.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a biological science or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with metabolite and cell wall cell component measurements, including colorimetric/absorbance-based assays of tannins and lignin, and HPLC analysis of cell wall components.

  • Ability to conduct and analyze RNA and DNA including preparation, gel electrophoresis, and fluorescence assays.

  • Rice and switchgrass tissue and cell culture transformation.

  • Protein preparation and western blotting.

  • Data analysis including in R.

  • Ability and willingness to contribute to maintaining laboratory equipment, including HPLCs.

  • English oral and written communication skills.

Annual Salary:

$45,387.00 - $50,000.00 | Selected candidates are typically hired between the minimum and midpoint of the listed range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.



In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
