Position Summary
The Kabanov Lab is seeking to fill two Postdoc positions with expertise in formulation and evaluation of drug and/or nucleic acids loaded nanoparticles for treatment of cancer. Expertise in in vitro and in vivo models of cancer, cell, and biochemical assays, design and synthesis of biocompatible polymers, formulation and physicochemical characterization of polymeric nanoparticles, PK/PD is instrumental for the success in these positions. The lab provides cross-disciplinary ecosystem for training and research, with multiple collaborative projects and professional opportunities. We support inclusive, diverse, and equitable environment for students and scientists from all backgrounds. Dr. Kabanov serves as the Director of Nanotechnology in Drug Delivery Center that bring together scientists to create nano-scale pharmaceutical innovations for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes.
The postdocs will be directly working on engineering polymeric formulations that can fight cancer by inhibition of signal pathways which drive tumor growth and changing tumor microenvironment to stimulate anti-tumor immune response. Ongoing projects include translational research to develop drug combination nanoformulations for treatment of the triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). The use of pathway inhibitors, as well as immunomodulatory molecules is part of the growing approach to reduce toxicity and increase efficacy of treatment. Another project involves chemo- and immunotherapeutic treatment of a pediatric brain tumor, medulloblastoma. The postdoc will be responsible for designing and testing the nanomedicines that can improve the delivery of specific pathways inhibitors into brain tumors, evaluate their efficacy and targeting prevention of drug resistance. The work can potentially transform the current standard of care for many brain cancers, while also making the therapy broadly available to the public.
