Position Summary
A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This position will focus on understanding the biological functions of proteins and enzymes that control blood coagulation, vascular calcification, and bone metabolism. We use basic approaches of molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and cell biology to address protein structure-function relationships in their native milieu. We also use CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing and genome-wide targeting to characterize proteins and enzymes of interest, especially in the vitamin K redox cycle. The current focuses of the lab are vitamin K-dependent carboxylation and blood coagulation. Highly motivated individuals with a recent doctoral degree and training in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, and/or cell biology are encouraged to apply. Applicants with a strong publication record and expertise in protein biochemistry and molecular biology are encouraged to apply.
Educational Requirements
Applicants are expected to have recently completed a doctoral degree and training in the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, and/or cell biology.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants with a strong publication record and expertise in protein biochemistry and molecular biology are encouraged to apply.
