Position Summary
The Magness lab is looking for an exceptional Postdoctoral Research Associate to focus on designing high resolution experimental and computational pipelines for developing models of primary human gastrointestinal tissues in health and disease. This postdoc will define and develop novel algorithms and procedures for assessing functional, transcriptomic, and phenotypic heterogeneity of gastrointestinal tissues through high-throughput sequencing data, high resolution confocal microscopy, and functional readouts.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Computational Biology, or a related discipline
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Strong technical and methodological background in molecular biology and primary human cell culture
Independent, highly motivated, and highly collaborative with the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team that bridges experimental and computational biology
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and apply modern statistical and computational methods for the analysis of next generation sequencing data (scRNAseq, RNAseq, etc.) 
Expertise in high resolution confocal imaging and computational image analyses
Expertise is gastrointestinal biology and disease
Specific expertise in single cell transcriptomics analysis
Expertise in implementing statistical and computational methods in data intensive programming environments
Able to perform at a high level in a rapidly-changing and demanding work environment
Able to multitask at the bench and computation
Demonstrated ability to effectively present and communicate about complex bioinformatics problems to colleagues.
Stem cells or cancer initiation and progress background
Ability to perform tissue culture and organoid expertise
