Position Summary:


The main NIH-funded projects will focus on analyzing national datasets with neuroimaging measures, psychosocial variables, biomarkers, and substance use outcomes from large developmental cohorts (i.e., ABCD and PATH). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in epidemiology, psychology, or cognitive neuroscience, demonstrated success as a recent PhD graduate with a track record in 1) tobacco regulatory science: behavioral health, quantitative assessment, epidemiology, and other population science or 2) health outcomes: neurocognition, analytical chemistry and biomarkers, environmental health sciences, and toxicology. The successful candidate will contribute to the project planning and lead the efforts related to codebook review, variable coding, statistical analyses, and manuscript writing. Good writing skills are a must, with demonstrated independent thinking and problem-solving ability. Experience using large databases is recommended, and bioinformatics skills are viewed favorably. The post-doc scholar will receive mentorship, and the research projects are expected to generate high-impact publications and provide a post-doctoral fellow with an excellent opportunity for further career development in academia as an independent investigator. This position is fully funded for at least two years, with the possibility of renewal. Preference (but not requirement): Successful applicants should be highly motivated, curious, and willing to analyze complex imaging, biomarker, and survey data. They will have completed a Ph.D. or M.D. in epidemiology, cognitive neuroscience, psychology, bioinformatics, computational neuroscience or a related discipline by the time they start. Further qualifications in developmental neuroscience and analysis of large datasets are appreciated but not required. Previous programming experience in relevant analysis software (e.g., SAS, R, Python, Mplus) and computational modeling expertise are preferred.
