Position Summary

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will perform synthetic medicinal chemistry research in the Trippier lab. This will include the synthesis, purification and characterization of small molecules and the strategic planning of derivatives informed by biological activity assays.

The ideal candidate must have an awarded Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry. The ability to independently analyze, interpret and communicate results along with laboratory maintenance is required. Excellent organizational skills and familiarity with government-funded research reporting, as well as health and safety requirements, are essential.

Duties include:
• Design synthetic routes to access priority targeted compounds using modern techniques in organic and organometallic chemistry.
• Synthesis, purification and characterization of small organic molecules.
• Develop structure-activity relationships.
• Stay current with the literature and apply new methodology to the research project as appropriate.
• Participate in creating new research proposals.
• Prepare periodic progress reports or written reports on all phases of the research project.
• Prepare manuscripts for review and submission.
• Assist junior lab members in their research projects by providing a point of contact for chemistry techniques and methodology.
• Other duties as assigned.
