Position Summary
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory of Genomic Medicine at University of Illinois at Chicago is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate to join its informatics division. This position will focus on three major areas: 1) clinical diagnostic testing which includes DNA sequence data analysis from high-complexity tests such as the solid tumor sequencing panel, hematologic malignancies sequencing panel, clinical exome sequencing and high throughput RNA sequencing; 2) perform variant curation and interpretation, develop protocols for variant curation and classification; and 3) participate in new test developments and clinical research projects.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops pipelines for next-generation sequencing data analysis and implements for RNA-seq and whole genome sequencing (WGS)
  • Develops methods and interfaces for Integrated Genomic Analysis and data visualization (Whole-exome, RNA-seq, CNV)
  • Data analysis including scripting, programming, statistical analyses.
  • Supports multiple projects directed by the Scientific Director
  • Solid understanding of genetics, NGS technology, and statistics
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
  • Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Doctorate degree in related field received within the last five years is required.
    • Experience in scientific programming with applications to genomic research required.
    • Experience with Perl, Python, HTML, relational databases and SQL and programming in a UNIX/LINUX environment required.

    Experience working with different widely used genomic analysis pipelines preferred
