Job summary:
Our laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our multidisciplinary research team within the Department of Radiology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Our translational research focuses on the development of preclinical biomedical cancer models (including mouse and pig models) and utilization of these models for the discovery of novel therapeutics and diagnostics. The postdoctoral Researcher will work with Principal Investigators Dr. Lobna Elkhadragy and Dr. Ron Gaba on an NIH-funded grant focused on the development of liver cancer models with varying metabolic profiles. This project includes cell culture and animal experiments, and will employ cutting edge technologies including CRISPR gene editing. The ideal candidates must be self-motivated and ha
Duties & Responsibilities

Design and perform advanced in vitro and in vivo experiments, including the use of mammalian cell culture, CRISPR gene editing, lentiviral transduction, immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry, and animal procedures.

Acquire knowledge in the area of liver cancer models and therapeutics.

Independently plan, perform, and troubleshoot experimental protocols.

Collect and analyze data and summarize research findings.

Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Present research at lab meetings and conferences.

Train students and research staff to perform techniques and procedures.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, or a related field obtained within the last 2 years.

At least two years of experience in molecular biology and mammalian cell culture.

Experience in translational cancer research and proficiency in lab research techniques.

Good organization skills and ability to work on concurrent research projects.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The ability to work collaboratively with other team members is essential.

A strong track record of relevant publications is desired.

Experience in tumor metabolism, CRISPR, and lab animal research is preferred.
