The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a postdoctoral research associate to serve as a member of the Psychiatry and Behavioral Science team. Job Description Summary

As a member of translational neuroimaging group, the Post Doctoral position will participate in designing experiments, recruitment of healthy subjects and psychiatric patients, conduct clinical/diagnostic assessments, participate in delivery of clinical interventions and collection of biological samples, and the assessment of the outcomes.

This is a part-time position scheduled to work 20 hours per week. Continued employment is dependent on grant funding.



Qualifications

Required Education:

Appropriate PhD

Preferred Education:

Ph.D in neuroscience/psychology or related field

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of appropriate laboratory and technical equipment (e.g., an fMRI scanner and related tools that are required during a scan).

Knowledge of statistical analyses and statistical analyses software.

Knowledge of research in practical and or basic sciences and scientific publications.

Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Strong verbal and communication skills.


Job Responsibilities

Independent Research

As a member of translational neuroimaging group, the Post Doctoral position will participate in designing experiments, recruitment of healthy subjects and psychiatric patients, conduct clinical/diagnostic assessments, participate in delivery of clinical interventions and collection of biological samples, and the assessment of the outcomes.

On the neuroimaging side Post Doctoral position will learn basic principles of functional neuroimaging (fMRI), experimental design, data collection and analysis. They will conduct neuroimaging experiments in the fMRI scanner, develop novel experiments and program stimuli presentation using Eprime and Presentation software, and analyze functional neuroimaging data using Matlab and SPM analytical packages.

Train and Oversee Medical Students

The Post Doctoral position will train undergraduate, graduate and medical student and supervise the work of research assistants/research techs. Finally, they will analyze all the data and prepare scientific reports and publications in peer reviewed journals. They will present results of their work in professional meetings and participate in grant submission process.
