TAMIDS is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate who will support the research activities and pilot projects carried out by members of the Scientific Machine Learning (SciML) Lab; help with the organization of community building activities; and assist with the day-to-day operation of the Lab. We seek to hire a candidate who will support the University’s commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accountability (IDEA). The preferred candidate will have a PhD in Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or similar discipline related to Machine Learning and Scientific Computation and have a strong academic background in foundational disciplines related to Science and Engineering. Required Education:

  • PhD in Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or similar discipline related to Machine Learning and Scientific Computation

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams; strong programming skills; good communication skills; demonstrated expertise in machine learning
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Strong academic background in Scientific and Engineering applied areas.
  • Strong academic background in foundational disciplines related to Science and Engineering

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of contemporary machine learning methods and foundations; experience with high performance computing and numerical methods to solve science and engineering problems
  • Strong programming skills including experience with Keras / TensorFlow / Python / Julia; strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with people of diverse backgrounds

Responsibilities:

  • Research - Undertake original high-quality research within the multidisciplinary collaborative groups in the SciML Lab, in line with objectives agreed upon appointment and reviewed periodically. Produce publications, conference papers and other research outputs, according to agreed objectives, and attend and present of research findings at appropriate conferences and meetings. Attend internal and external seminars, conferences and workshops aimed at sharing research outcomes, building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside group, and mutual education.
  • SciML Lab Engagements - Deliver research workshops on SciML topics and software packages and provide consultancy on their usage to other researchers. Contribute talks on individual or group research to the Lab Workshops, contribute to the Sci ML social media. Assist with the mentoring of research students in the group and/or interdisciplinary student team Data Science projects. Performs other duties as assigned
