The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to serve as a member of the Molecular & Cellular Medicine team. Job Summary: The Postdoctoral Research Associate is responsible for performing research in NF-kB signaling and regulation of mitochondrial function in cancer and development using in vitro and vivo models.



Required Education:

  • Appropriate PhD

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expertise in biochemistry and molecular biology, transgenic mice and xeograft mouse models
  • Knowledge of culture of cancer cells, analysis of gene expression changes and changes in cell signaling molecules, NF-κB signaling, mouse breeding/handling/injections and survival surgery (intracranial).
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • PhD in genetics or relevant biology field.
  • Related work experience
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs original basic science research in NF-kB signaling and mitochondrial analysis using in vitro and in vivo mouse techniques. Includes mammalian cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, immunoblot, enzymatic assays, genotyping, mouse husbandry, injection techniques (intraperitoneal, subcutaneous, intravenous), in vivo small animal imaging and stereotactic survival surgery.
  • Perform critical analyses of experimental data, including assisting with writing manuscripts, grants and preparing research presentations.
  • Lab management and or supervisory roles in research. Includes ordering reagents, maintaining lab databases, organizing and tracking inventories, intake of new lab personnel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
