PURPOSE

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will focus on research of water and environmental systems integrated in water resources management in South Texas.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Research: 85%

  • Collect and manage the data of water and environmental systems.
  • Conduct the analysis and modeling of water and environmental systems.
  • Develop reports, presentations, and manuscripts based on research results.
  • Performs analysis and tests.
  • Makes and records observations and scientific measurement.
  • Extracts, collects and compiles data.

Administrative: 10%

  • Develops and maintains training materials for external users.
  • Prepare scientific summary papers and reports.
  • Propose research ideas.

Other: 5%

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • PhD in civil engineering, environmental science, computer science, or a related field
  • Research experience in hydrology, water resources management, or geospatial analysis
  • Skills of scientific writing and communications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with HEC-HMS, SWAT, or other watershed hydrological models
  • Experience with geospatial analytics via Google Earth Engine, Planet, or other platforms
  • Experience with ArcGIS Online or other web-based mapping software
  • Experience with NOAA precipitation forecast products
