Who we are

The Department of Atmospheric Sciences at Texas A&M University, researches the physical processes that influence and determine our climate as well as providing insight into how and why the climate changes. This is an enormous topic and covers spatial scales from atmospheric chemistry, aerosol particles, air pollution, cloud particles, with radii of microns, to large-scale atmospheric waves, with length scales of thousands of kilometers. Topics studied in the department include the physics of convection, climate variability, feedback physics, climate sensitivity, climate extremes, and regional modeling.  Variability and predictability of climate on seasonal to millennial timescales, coupled ocean-atmosphere interaction, large-scale dynamics of the atmosphere and the oceans.

What we want

The postdoctoral fellow position is responsible for conducting laboratory research, performing potential field measurements, analyzing research data, and writing research articles in the field of secondary organic aerosols formation mechanism as well as their interactions with clouds. The postdoctoral fellow will primarily work with Dr. Yue Zhang but will also supervise graduate students, work with collaborators from research institutions including Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, University of North Carolina, and Purdue University. The postdoctoral fellow will also receive mentorship from Dr. Zhang in research, writing, and future career. Required Education:

  • Appropriate PhD

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge in atmospheric chemistry and understand at least basic knowledge in mass spectrometry

  • Excellent written and communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with other team members on relevant projects

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • PhD in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Atmospheric Sciences, or other related areas

  • Research experience in laboratory settings and field

Responsibilities:

  • Research - Perform research activities, analyze research data, report research findings, attend scientific conferences.

  • Collaboration - Work and collaborate with internal team members and external collaborators.

  • Perform other duties that will benefit the candidate for future potential careers.
