PURPOSE
Fostering advanced research, innovation, and collaboration for sustainable manufacturing using operations research and machine learning. Facilitating the preparation of proposals for new grants and ensuring compliance with the requirements of granted projects.
DESCRIPTION
Functional Area 1: Research
Percent Effort: 70%
Job Duties
Developing decision support tools using system modeling, optimization, and machine learning (especially reinforcement learning) for applications of smart and sustainable manufacturing.
Prepare research papers for journals and conferences.
Data organization and management
Data analyses
Data dissemination
Pursue research in the lab and field.
Keep up with current and appropriate literature.
Functional Area 2: Proposal Preparing and Program Management
Percent Effort: 30%
Job Duties
Working closely with Dr. Yun and assisting in preparing grant proposals.
Writing reports for funding agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. (or expected completion by Fall 2024) in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Strong mathematical background, including expertise in optimization, probability, statistics, and machine learning (especially reinforcement learning).
Prior experience working with data and system modeling, familiarity with at least one programming environment (e.g., MATLAB, Python, R)
