What We Want

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be responsible for conducting research in the Laganowsky laboratory to better understand how lipids modulate the structure and function of membrane proteins. The position will be using advanced ion mobility mass spectrometry technology for studying intact protein complexes to accelerate biological and drug discoveries, and therapeutic development through leading edge research and development and analysis. These studies will be complemented with structural studies using X­ray crystallography/cryoEM and in conjunction with standard biochemical approaches. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will also express and purify proteins using a variety of expression systems, ranging from bacteria, insect cells, to HEK293. The scientist will assist the Principal Investigator by organizing and conducting cutting-edge experiments to investigate membrane protein lipid interactions on the molecular level. What You Need to Know

Salary Range: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire's experience.

Work Schedule: May require working during evening and /or weekend hours.

Required Education and Experience:

• Appropriate PhD

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

• Contributes to team effort by working effectively with individuals of various backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in a science related field

• Experience with protein expression and purification in bacteria, yeast, insect cells, and HEK293

• Experience in mass spectrometry, ion mobility mass spectrometry, X-ray crystallography, cryogenic electron microscopy

Responsibilities:

• Research: Conduct research in specific field.

• Dissemination of Data Results: Participate in analyzing and disseminating data results as part of participation in group meetings, prepare manuscripts, periodic reports, scientific papers/presentations and grant proposals. Make presentations of results at group meetings and other appropriate venues.

• Research Enhancement: Attend scientific meetings and seminars for research enhancement. Keep up to date on scientific research via reading of literature, etc. Provide advice and assistance to other laboratory team members, act as a mentor to students. Maintain laboratory instrumentation and follow applicable safety standards and performs other duties may be assigned.
