The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to serve as a member of the Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics department. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The successful applicant will bring a high level of research experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting PIs in a fast-paced environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. Required Education:

  • Appropriate PhD


Preferred Education:

  • A PhD in neurobiology, biopsychology or related discipline

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities.


Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with behavioral assays and drug/alcohol exposure in rodents model systems.
  • Experience with writing and publishing research manuscripts
  • Experience with writing grant proposals.


Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skills in animal handling, data analysis and scientific writing.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct of Research Studies – studies using cell culture and animal models of alcohol and drug exposures. Includes behavioral, molecular and cell biological studies.
  • Oversight of animal colony - Oversee animal breeding and rodent colony maintenance
  • Data analysis - includes compiling data and statistical analyses
  • Creating research reports - includes writing reports, journal articles and making presentations at scientific meeting
  • Other duites as assigned
