Required Education:

  • Appropriate PhD

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and statistics software programs

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities.

Preferred Education:

  • PhD in Biological Sciences

Preferred Experience:

  • Working laboratory experience and experienced at performing in vivo techniques

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Protein and RNA analysis, flow cytometry, mammalian tissue culture, imaging, in vivo techniques

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform mouse handling and colony maintenance for projects with in vivo in transgenic and inducible mouse models of disease with ongoing in vivo physiological assessments (lymphatic transport, renal filtration, glucose tolerance, etc.) and proceed in vitro with isolated vessel studies, primary cell isolation and culture, and thorough cellular, protein, metabolite, and genetic analyses.

  • Lab techniques and procedures include: protein and RNA analysis, flow cytometry, mammalian tissue culture, imaging, and in vivo techniques.

  • Maintain and organize records readily followed by others.

  • Assist in preparation of data for oral and poster presentations, manuscripts and grant submissions.

  • Perform other computer/software-related tasks as directed by the Principal Investigator.

  • Communicate effectively (orally and written) and lead collaborative research endeavors and Interface with collaborating labs on campus and other research centers.

  • Present scientific data at national and international meetings.

  • Prepare and apply for grant funding as advised by the Principal Investigator and Mentoring Committee.

  • Oversee day-to-day laboratory activities and mentor junior lab members.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
