JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for assigned activities in the research laboratory under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator or the designee of P.I. Duties include performing experiments in the area of cell and molecular biology relating to cardiovascular and metabolic disease development. Experience in lung injury research will also be considered. The postdoctoral research associate senior should have experience in the handling of small animals. Documentation of experimental data in timely fashion, and inventory and ordering of laboratory supplies are required. Other related duties as assigned.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:


• Investigation of the molecular and cellular players that contribute to cardiovascular, lung, and metabolic diseases. Design and perform experiments in vitro.
• Work with small animals in the preparation and analysis of cardiovascular, lung, and metabolic disease development based on different animal model. Design and perform experiments in vivo.
• General laboratory support duties—Maintenance of cell cultures, Isolation of RNA, polymerase chain reactions, preparation of DNAs including plasmid DNA, cell transfections, enzyme assays, etc.
• Order and maintain supplies, equipment maintenance, and general upkeep of the laboratory.
• Conduct or assist in experiments related to ongoing research projects under PI’s supervision.
• Record keeping on daily basis and carry out data analysis.
• Prepare abstracts, manuscript for publication and written reports of research and grant proposals, independently.
• Makes scientific presentations and performs other work-related duties as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.

This position requires the ability to follow directions, maintain confidentiality, trustworthiness,orderliness, accuracy, punctual attendance during stated hours of work and the ability to interact with co-workers, customers and visitors in a professional manner. The follow are required also including the experience/knowledge related to biochemical, cellular and molecular biology techniques, working knowledge of animal models design and protocol preparation, familiarity with initiating and maintaining primary cell cultures, knowledge about statistical methods and able to follow oral instructions.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Postdoctoral Research Associate Senior position requires a Ph.D. degree This Postdoctoral Research Associate Senior position is immediately available to investigate the molecular and cellular players that contribute to cardiovascular, lung, and metabolic diseases and develop and test the efficacy of the effective targeted interventions. Applicants must have a strong background in cellular and molecular biology, experience with small animal work and in the preparation and analysis of cardiovascular, lung, and metabolic disease development. Preference will be given to candidate’s PhD degree with research experience in studying biochemical and molecular biological aspects of cardiovascular diseases (aneurysm, atherosclerosis, hypertension, and vascular development), lung (IPF, pleural fibrosis, etc) and/or metabolic diseases (obesity and type 2 diabetes). Candidates with expertise in systems analysis of molecular interactions, studies of smooth muscle cell, endothelial cell, fibroblasts or leukocytes or mitochondrial biology are also encouraged to apply.
