The Texas A&M Institute of Data Science (TAMIDS) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the Scientific Machine Learning (SciML) Lab. The successful candidate will work at the interface of artificial intelligence and scientific computation, developing physics-informed machine learning methods and applying them in various cutting-edge engineering and scientific projects with researchers from various related disciplines affiliated with TAMIDS. The preferred candidate will have a strong academic or industrial background in the machine learning and scientific computation areas. Having experience in foundational disciplines in engineering and science is a plus. We seek to hire a team player who will promote collaboration and cooperation while working within a team.



The Department

The Texas A&M Institute of Data Science (TAMIDS) pursues new approaches to data science research, education, operations, and partnerships. These approaches cross college boundaries to connect elements of Data Science from engineering, technology, science, and the humanities and inform wider social challenges. Qualifications & Skills:

  • Appropriate PhD, such as in computer science, electrical engineering, statistics, mathematics, or similar discipline related to Data Science is preferred.

  • Experience in foundational disciplines in or related to Science is preferred.

  • Strong programming skills, including use of Python/TensorFlow/Keras are preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Group Research - Undertakes original high-quality research within the research group in the area of machine learning with graph data, in line with objectives agreed upon appointment and reviewed periodically. Produces publications, conference papers and other research outputs, according to agreed objectives, and attends and presents research findings at appropriate conferences and meetings. Attends internal and external seminars, conferences and workshops aimed at sharing research outcomes, building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside group, and mutual education.

  • TAMIDS Engagement - Delivers short expository courses on personal and group research and/or provides consultancy on their usage to other researchers. Assists with the mentoring of research students in the group and/or interdisciplinary student team Data Science projects.
