The Postdoctoral Research Associate is responsible for identifying the sex pheromone which is essential for developing pheromone trap for crape myrtle bark scale pest management. Having knowledge of Crape myrtle bark scale insect life cycle and mating behavior, will be a plus to serve in this position. Required Education:

  • Appropriate doctoral degree

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Insect rearing skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Knowledge of Crape myrtle bark scale insect life cycle and mating behavior

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Experience:

  • Crape myrtle bark scale pest management

Responsibilities:

  • Research Experiments - Executing research experiments and analyzing results.

  • Documentation - Maintaining an accurate laboratory notebook, writing manuscripts, presenting findings, and contributing to grant proposals.

  • Training - Training new personal on lab procedures.

  • Lab Duties - General laboratory duties such as: purchasing supplies, modeling organism maintenance, researching equipment maintenance, maintaining a safe working environment.

  • Performing other duties as assigned.
