Location: Princeton, NEW JERSEY
The Kingsbury group in the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment at Princeton University is seeking applications for a postdoctoral research associate or more senior research position. The Kingsbury group examines fundamental aspects of engineered, ion selective materials used in electrochemical processes for separation, energy conversion, and energy storage.

The researcher will carry out experimental research in the broad area of ion separations. Responsibilities may include characterization of water uptake, ion sorption, and/or ion transport in polymer membranes and sorbents, synthesis of charged polymer membranes, development of theory related to ion transport and sorption, training of graduate and undergraduate students in laboratory methods, management of laboratory supplies and safety, preparation of scholarly publications and proposals.

Individuals with expertise in ion separations research and a PhD in relevant fields (including materials science, electrochemistry, chemical engineering, or environmental engineering) are encouraged to apply. In addition to technical skills, we especially seek candidates that have experience writing proposals to federal or private sector organizations, setting up instruments and developing standard operating procedures, and mentoring graduate or undergraduate students.

All candidates must have strong, demonstrated research ability, be comfortable in an interdisciplinary research environment, and have excellent English language verbal and written communication skills. We are interested in receiving applications from members of groups that have been historically underrepresented in engineering and materials science.

The Term of appointment is based on rank. Positions at the postdoctoral rank are for one year with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding; those hired at more senior ranks may have multi-year appointments. The work location for this position is in-person on campus at Princeton University.
