Postdoctoral Research Associate

The African Humanities Colloquium at Princeton University invites applications for a postdoctoral or more senior research position for the 2023-2024 academic year. Consideration will be given to scholars working in any field of the humanities dealing with Africa or the African diaspora. Scholars of all disciplines in the humanities broadly defined, including anthropology, art and archeology, comparative literature, English, film and video history, literatures in other languages, music, philosophy, drama and performance, sexuality studies, digital humanities, environmental humanities, religion, and women and gender studies will be considered. The successful candidate will be involved in the organization and activities of the African Humanities Colloquium and may be able to teach one course each year. The successful candidate may have the opportunity to advise students in their area of expertise or related areas. When teaching, the successful candidate will carry a secondary teaching rank. Any teaching role is contingent on sufficient course enrollment and prior approval from the Dean of the Faculty. 

Appointments will be for one year with the possibility of renewal for a second year based on performance and availability of funding. This appointment will be made through the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies (PIIRS). Applicants must have already demonstrated outstanding scholarly achievement and excellence in teaching. A Ph.D. degree is required. 

In addition to salary and benefits, the program will provide the Fellow with a research fund in the amount of $3,000 per year and office space.
