Postdoctoral Research Associate Position in Evolutionary and Population Genetics

The Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology at Princeton seeks postdoctoral or more senior research positions available to work with Professor Sarah Kocher to study the genetic and environmental factors that shape variation in social behavior. We combine cutting-edge genomic tools with field and lab studies of solitary, social, and socially-polymorphic insect species.

We are looking for someone with strong quantitative and computational skills that is excited about developing accessible and reproducible computational pipelines to analyze these datasets. Because we are interested in how genes and environment interact to generate behavioral variation among individuals, we produce a wide range of genomic data, from DNA and RNAseq to single-cell sequencing and high-throughput functional genomic screens. Though not a requirement for this position, interested candidates will also have the opportunity to develop their own, independent research project in our group.

The Kocher Lab is housed in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics. We are committed to increasing diversity and inclusion in the scientific community and encourage you to apply! Ideal candidates will have a background in computational biology, bioinformatics, evolutionary or population genetics, or a similar field. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in one or more of these disciplines.

The start date for this position is flexible. The Term of appointment is based on rank. Positions at the postdoctoral rank are for one year with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding; those hired at more senior ranks may have multi-year appointments.

Applicants must apply online at: https://puwebp.princeton.edu/AcadHire/position/33382 and submit a curriculum vitae, a 2-3 page statement of research experience plans, and a brief cover letter that includes names and contact information of at least three references.

This position is subject to the University's background check policy. The work location for this position is in-person on campus at Princeton University.

Princeton University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
