Unit Mission Statement
The Department of Physics has 25 instructional faculty members and 15+ physicists in research positions. Our undergraduate program offers both a major and a minor. Undergraduate majors may choose a standard physics track or can take a concentration of engineering physics and applied design classes. The department graduates about 30 physics majors per year. Our graduate program offers 50+ students research opportunities to pursue a Ph.D. degree. Research areas in the department include atomic, molecular, and optical physics, computational physics, condensed matter physics, nuclear and hadronic physics, particle physics, and plasma and non-linear physics. The department strives to provide broad learning and research opportunities for both undergraduate and graduate students as well as training for postdoctoral fellows.
Position Summary
The Department of Physics at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, invites applications for a postdoctoral research associate position that will begin August 10, 2023.
We seek an individual with expertise in lattice QCD and its applications to hadron structure to join the Nuclear and Hadronic Theory Group. The successful candidate will collaborate with scientists in the Theory Center at Jefferson Lab, and international collaborators within the HadStruc Collaboration.
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D., in theoretical nuclear or particle physics, or related field, is required at the time appointment begins (August 10, 2023).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the computational techniques and data analysis relevant to lattice QCD.
