Job Description

Position Summary

The Mullen lab in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking outstanding candidates interested in women’s and reproductive health research for a position within the Center for Reproductive Health Sciences (CRepHS). Our lab is focused on overcoming chemotherapy resistance in gynecologic cancers by targeting DNA damage repair mechanisms. We specifically are interested in developing novel biomarkers and therapies for the treatment of ovarian cancer.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Utilize techniques in cell culture, animal models, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence assays, advanced microscopy, DNA fiber assays, Comet assays, cell viability assays, gel electrophoresis, invasion and migration assays, and flow cytometry. Applicants with a strong background in these areas are encouraged to apply.
  • Design, organize, conduct, and analyze basic and advanced experiments using established protocols, coordinate with the core facilities, troubleshoot, and design new protocols.
  • Contribute to manuscript writing and publishing data in research journals.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to laboratory staff and trainees.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Cancer Biology or related field. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Research experience in cancer biology or cell biology.
  • Proficiency in basic cancer biology and molecular and cell biology techniques such as cell viability and colony formation assays, real-time PCR, Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and DNA, RNA, and protein isolation. 
  • Working experience with mouse models of cancer.
  • Experience with software like ImageJ, Microsoft Office, and GraphPad Prism.

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
