What we want

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is immediately available in the McCreedy Lab in the Department of Biology at Texas A&M University. The successful candidate will lead a new project to help determine the molecular mechanisms underlying acute inflammatory damage after spinal cord injury (SCI). This study will employ a diverse repertoire of tools and techniques including pre-clinical SCI models, flow cytometry, histology, behavioral analyses, tissue clearing and lightsheet microscropy. Required Education:

  • Appropriate PhD

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational, written and oral communications skills
  • Detail-oriented, independent and have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • PhD in Neuroscience or related fields
  • 3 years of experience working with small animal models of neurological disease or trauma model
  • Solid track record of research productivity evidenced by multiple publications in quality peer-reviewed journals

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Technical expertise in neurobehavior assays, spinal cord injury models, flow cytometry, and/or tissue clearing and lightsheet imaging

Responsibilities:

  • Research Experiments - Designing and executing research experiments and analyzing results
  • Documentation - Writing of manuscripts, keeping a logbook, presenting findings, maintaining shared lab data, and contributing to grant proposals
  • Supervision and Training - Collaborating in the mentorship and training of graduate and undergraduate students
  • Miscellaneous Lab Duties - General laboratory duties such as purchasing supplies, equipment maintenance, and maintaining a safe working environment; Performs other duties as assigned
