Duties and Responsibilities

The Liu lab at the University of Florida is currently seeking a highly skilled postdoctoral fellow to engage in cardiovascular research.

Dr. Liu is an assistant professor at the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition. Dr. Liu’ research interests focus on understanding the molecular mechanism underlying calcium-dependent cardiac dysfunctions and developing novel mechanism-based therapeutics. The Liu lab conducts multiscale studies ranging from molecules to whole animals in order to understand the impact of genetic defects and diet on cardiac physiology. Novel genetic or diet-based mouse models are developed to investigate the mechanisms of heart disease, utilizing methods of cellular physiology, protein biochemistry, and in vivo cardiac functional assays. The Liu lab has been continuously funded by the American Heart Association and National Health Institute. Minimum Requirements:

A doctorate (foreign equivalent acceptable) in the biological or biomedical sciences, demonstrating proficiency in animal models, molecular, cellular, and/or biochemical assays or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates should have demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, interpersonal relationships. Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land-Grant system. Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in the cardiac field is preferred, we also welcome outstanding candidates with expertise in related biomedical disciplines. Excellent communication skills are essential. The candidate will be responsible for leading a project, including designing experiments, collecting, and analyzing data, preparing manuscripts/proposals, and mentoring and involving other students (graduate/undergraduate) in the lab
