Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Position Summary
The Linnstaedt Lab in the Department of Anesthesiology and Institute for Trauma Recovery at
UNC-CH invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar to perform animal behavioral experiments, statistical analysis of human cohort data, and/or molecular/cell culture work as part of funded projects(R01NS118563, U01MH110925) focused on understanding mechanisms related to novel therapeutic targets for the prevention of chronic pain and other adverse outcomes (e.g. depression, PTSD) following trauma exposure.Individuals with experience or interest in analyzing human cohort data,performing animal models assessing neuropsychiatric pain behaviors,and/or conducting molecular/cellular biology experiments should apply.Interested applicants may also contact Dr. Linnstaedt directly about the position.
Postdoctoral research associates will be highly encouraged to submit applications for postdoctoral fellowship awards from relevant institutional,government and foundation organizations. Postdoctoral research associates will also have the opportunity to prepare and submit abstracts to attend national and international conferences. They will also be encouraged to collaboratively write manuscripts describing their findings and those of their undergraduate/graduate mentees.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
A D.V.M., Ph.D. and/or M.D. in biomedical or related sciences is required

Candidates are expected to have strong problem solving, oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues in a laboratory setting, as well as independently. The successful candidate should be highly motivated and will be expected to exhibit a strong work ethic. Training in animal behavior,molecular biology, human cohort analyses, and/or pain and neuropsychiatric disorder biology demonstrated by a strong track-record of relevant publications and presentations is preferred.
