What we want
The Postdoctoral Research Associate, under general supervision, conducts lab experiments, analyzes and communicates data in the form of primary research articles, aids in grant writing, supervises undergraduate students and performs routine lab duties as required. This role performs animal studies and all aspects of mammalian cell culture and downstream assays including protein and nucleic acids assays.

Required Education and Experience:
• Appropriate doctoral degree

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in in immunology or cell biology

  • Experience in experimentation with rodents and immune cell cultures

  • Experience in experimentation with immunology research or extracellular vesicles

  • Knowledge of lab room preparation and lab techniques and safety

  • Willing to work with laboratory animals

  • Must have an excellent attitude and willingness to learn new techniques appropriate to job functions

  • Must pay attention to detail, keep accurate and up to date research records, maintain equipment records, and follow established protocols

  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work in a Biosafety Level 2 lab and follow all guidelines

  • Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safely without injury to self and others in compliance with A&M System and HSC guidelines


Resposiblities:

  • Laboratory Research - Conducts all aspects of mammalian cell cultures and downstream assays including isolation of extracellular vesicles from cell culture conditioned medium and protein/nucleic acids assays (RT-PCR, western blot and ELISAs).

  • Animal Research - Assists with all aspects of in vivo experiments with laboratory animals (handling animals, drug administration and tissue collections, etc), tissue processing and histological analysis.

  • Collaboration - Collaborates with other researchers/doctors to perform research on the area of expertise. Cooperates with other members of the laboratory staff in maintaining all instruments and maintaining a safe environment for all throughout the IRM facilities.

  • Prepare research data - Prepares research data for publication and presentations at scientific meetings. Performs other duties as assigned.
