Job Description

Position Summary

The Infectious Diseases Division of the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis has support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to develop improved diagnostics for filarial infections and to evaluate intervention efforts.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory and field research on the diagnostics filarial parasites.
  • Collaborate with a group of scientists from different disciplines and countries.
  • Advise technicians and students.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent terminal or doctoral degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in parasitology and molecular biology of helminth parasites.
  • Knowledge in computational biology, geospatial modeling, and epidemiology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong publication record in peer review journals in a field relevant to the project.

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
