Description

The Lickley Lab at Georgetown University is hiring one or more Postdoctoral Research Associate. The candidate will work with Prof. Megan Lickley to

1) model global production, emissions and storage (“banks”) of highly potent greenhouse gases that are regulated under the Montreal Protocol.

And/or
2) Quantify climate impacts with an emphasis on uncertainty quantification and reduction..The candidate will have an opportunity to use quantitative modeling to inform environmental policy, contribute to collaborative projects, and advance their professional goals. In addition,they will be part of a vibrant and growing community of Earth and environmental scholars at Georgetown University.

The position is based in Washington DC and will start as soon as Spring 2023 for a 1-2 year appointment. Remote work is a possibility. The salary is commensurate with experience with an additional stipend for professional development.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD by Spring or Summer of 2023 in Climate or Atmospheric Science, statistics, or related field

Desired Qualifications:
You are encouraged to apply if you meet at least some of the following qualifications:

  • Expertise in quantitative modeling, computational and/or Bayesian methods
  • Expertise in modeling Atmospheric circulation and/or trace gas emissions
  • Expertise quantifying climate impacts metrics with GCM ensembles
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong collaborative and organizational skills
  • Interests and expertise in climate policy
