Postdoctoral Research Associate in Computational Design and Robotic Construction

Summary

The Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning's Digital Architecture Research and Technologies (DART) Lab and Barton Research Group at the University of Michigan are looking for a term-limited postdoctoral research associate to join our team for one year. You will have a shared appointment in both the Department of Architecture and the Robotics Department within the College of Engineering.

The deadline for applications is March 24, 2024. Candidates with expertise/experience in the following fields are highly encouraged to apply:

  • Intelligent robotic systems 
  • Integrative computational design and construction for architecture
  • Artificial intelligence (AI), data integration and feedback control for co-design 
  • Robotic 3D printing
  • Materials processing/analysis for concrete, dirt, wood, or clay

Candidates should demonstrate evidence of commitment to their work at the highest level. This evidence may include works of research, scholarship, or design practice; it may include peer-reviewed papers in journals and conference proceedings, books or book chapters, community engagement projects, exhibitions/installations in culturally influential venues, impactful software, built prototypes, or professional work.


Additional Information

This position is term-limited for one year, with the possibility of extension, subject to organizational needs, performance evaluations, and secured funding. The salary range for this position is $60,000 - 75,000. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position.
