Position Highlights

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Arizona welcomes applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position supported in part by a grant from the Department of Energy entitled "Quasi-Trefftz methods for problems governed by vector-valued Partial Differential equation".

Qualifications: candidates must have a PhD with expertise in numerical analysis, and ideally in Discontinuous Galerkin methods. Expertise in high-performance computing is not required, but would be useful.

In collaboration with Prof. Imbert-Gerard, research topics will focus on the development and implementation of advanced methods, more specifically the so-called quasi-Trefftz methods, for problems governed by variable-coefficients Maxwell's equations in the frequency domain.

The teaching commitment is one course per year. Pending funding approval this is a year-to-year appointment, contingent upon funding and performance (non-tenure eligible) with an appointment beginning in Fall 2024.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • The Postdoctoral Research Associate I will maintain an active research program.
  • The teaching commitment is three units per year, which is the equivalent of one, one-semester course per academic year. 
  • Additional duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. in mathematics or related fields. The selected candidate must have a conferred Ph.D. upon hire.  
  • Must have expertise in numerical analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Expertise in high-performance computing.
  • Expertise in numerical analysis, ideally in Discontinuous Galerkin methods.
