Duties & Responsibilities
  • The Ferriere Lab is seeking a creative Postdoctoral Research Associate with experience in mechanistic modeling of ecological systems and evolutionary dynamics. The candidate will develop new, cutting-edge models to analyze eco-evolutionary feedbacks and dynamics from population to whole-ecosystem scale. The general aim of the project is to bridge eco-evolutionary theory and empirical data—ecological, genomic, and phylogenetic. One specific aim is to design new statistical inference methods tailored to eco-evolutionary processes. The new methods will be designed to enable testing alternate hypotheses about eco-evolutionary feedbacks via statistical inference and model selection in a Bayesian framework using ecological time series and genomic and transcriptomic data. The development of the new eco-evolutionary inference framework will be motivated and informed by specific empirical systems (toxic algal blooms and their ecosystem), for which omics and population experimental data are being generated by the project co-investigators.
  • The position is based in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Arizona and involves collaborations with the laboratories of Dr. Jennifer Wisecaver at Purdue University and Dr. Will Driscoll at Penn State University at Harrisburg.
