Position Highlights

The Taylor Research Group in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Arizona has an immediate opening for a motivated and enthusiastic postdoctoral research associate in the areas of chemical biology and organic chemistry. We are seeking candidates who are interested in developing new photochemical approaches for protein ligation and their application in probing cellular processes and chemical proteomics.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • The successful applicants will have the following duties and responsibilities:
  • The design, performance and analysis of experiments related to project goals, which will include on or more of the following: the design, synthesis, and assessment of small-molecule organic probes, the design and implementation of new reactions for covalent biomolecular labeling, and applications towards intracellular labeling and proteomic workflows.
  • The mastering of the relevant chemical biology primary literature.
  • The presentation of results in group meetings, the reviewing and writing of grant proposals.
  • The dissemination of project outcomes via the publication of results in peer-reviewed journals and the presentation of results at conferences.
  • Mentorship of junior researchers in the laboratory environment, including project management as well as the instruction of junior members in best laboratory practices. 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, or related field upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in any of the following areas: organic synthesis & synthetic methods development, organic photochemistry, proteomics/chemical proteomics, molecular biology, or biochemistry.
