Position Highlights

The Xiong lab in the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology at The University of Arizona is seeking qualified applicants to apply for the position of Postdoctoral Research Associate I. Candidates who have a strong background in applying physical organic chemistry to develop druggable covalent warheads for non-cysteine amino acids such as Asp/Glu, Lys, and Tyr are sought.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct hypothesis-driven research projects, generate and analyze data, and evaluate progress in multiple inter-related projects.
  • Engage in scientific discussion, hypothesis generation, experimental design, and troubleshooting.
  • Work independently and publish quality academic journals.
  • Complete data analysis.
  • Assist with laboratory management.
  • Assist graduate students.
  • Participate in manuscript preparation, and presenting results at Regional/National/International scientific conferences.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in organic chemistry, physical organic chemistry or related areas.
  • Demonstrated track record of project completion and relevant first author publications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong background in synthetic methodology or natural product synthesis.
