Position Highlights Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering (AME) at the University of Arizona seeks postdoctoral candidates with expertise in the synthesis and characterization of advanced materials for energy storage applications. The candidates should have a robust background in materials characterization. Experience in solid-state batteries, battery recycling, and synthesis of 2D materials such as MXene. The desired candidates should have several publications in the related fields.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in materials synthesis and electrochemical performance of materials, which includes leading a project on the electrochemical synthesis of MXenes. Performing materials characterization using XRD, SEM, TEM, XPS, FTIR, TGA, and other relevant materials characterization techniques. Performing research on the discovery of new materials for batteries and electrochemical capacitors.
  • Research article and proposal writing.
  • Training graduate and undergraduate students in electrochemical and materials characterization techniques 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of materials characterization.
  • Knowledge of solid-state batteries and recycling methods.
  • Excellent writing skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Doctoral degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or other related fields. Degree must be conferred prior to hire.
  • Experience in solid-state batteries, battery recycling, and synthesis of 2D materials such as MXene.
