Position Highlights

The Department of Surgery at the University of Arizona is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to collaborate on research that focuses on clinical outcomes and translational research across the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. This position is open for a person with a doctoral degree (PhD or MD), who has experience and publications.

In addition to their own project/experimental procedures, the Postdoctoral Research Associate is required to work with other lab members and assist with their own projects. The primary purpose of this appointment is to engage in advanced research training. The position will focus on contributing to the research initiatives of the department under the principal investigator/mentor's mentorship and interaction with collaborators.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop research projects and perform experiments within the Department of Surgery.
  • Train and supervise intern, undergraduate, medical, and graduate student lab members.
  • Work as a member of the principal investigator's research team and contribute novel hypotheses, ideas, and develop novel methodologies.
  • Contribute and participate in the authorship of research publications and presentations.
  • Collect, analyze and graph data, conclude research projects in a timely manner, write reports, and manuscripts.
  • Engage in career development activities, apply for dedicated funding and contribute to lab-based grant proposals.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD or MD conferred by the start date. 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge or experience in cardiac (adult cardiac and congenital cardiac) research.
  • Knowledge or experience in heart and lung transplantation research.
  • Experience presenting abstracts and manuscripts.
  • Knowledge of IRB.
